Forecast For Abersoch : Wednesday 24th April, 2024 - Issued at 7.40am by Chas

Headline Summary: Cloudy Start Then Sunny Today.

Bore da - Good morning from Abersoch... we saw some sunshine on Tuesday afternoon, after the morning cloud, along with a chilly feeling breeze from a northerly quarter, but sheltered spots felt quite warm in the sunny spells. Today looks like being a bit of repeat performsnce, but it should brighten up earlier today and we should see more in the way of sunshine. There are one or two showers affecting N Wales early today, but the risk of us seeing one here is low.

Thereafter, although the risk of showers does increase over the next couple of days, at the moment, it does look as though we could still see plenty of dry weather.

As for the weekend, low pressure to the south of the UK is expected to feed fronts into the UK, so the weather may be trending rather more unsettled - however, some charts this morning show us to the east of the worst of the weather on Saturday. That scenario is a possibility, but far from certain as the movement of the low and its associated fronts is rather uncertain... and the word "uncertain" is used alot this morning...

Today: Wednesday: Becoming mostly fine after some morning cloud, with a breeze from a northerly quarter, around moderate in strength at times today, perhaps gusting a little higher. Low risk of a shower from the early cloud. Sheltered spots doing best for warmth in the sunshine this afternoon. Maximum temperatures between 11c and 12c today. Clear periods and a northerly breeze this evening with temperatures tumbling, before cloud returns tonight, lifting temperatures and bringing the chance of one or two showers later in the night.

Thursday: Morning cloud with perhaps a shower or two, but it will be a lottery so we could stay dry. Generally brighter for the afternoon, with sunny spells coming and going. Winds from the north-northwest and up to moderate to fresh, bringing a chilly feel again. Temperatures up to between 10c and 11c. Cold overnight.

Friday: Variable amounts of cloud on Friday with a shower lottery scenario, so probably dry for most of the time, with the chance of one or two showers cropping up. The breeze may have more of an easterly element at times, but wind strengths are rather uncertain. Fairly chilly, but brighter peiods should feel pleasant in sheltered spots. The shower risk may increase overnight.

Saturday: Winds from the east or northeast, feeding in plenty of cloud but there is loads of uncertainty regarding whether we will be affected by an area of rain moving into southern and central Britain. Some charts suggest we will be to east of the worst of the weather and some charts delay the movemnt of the rain northwards - so suggesting any detail is impossible.

Sunday: Perhaps OK, with a wind from a northerly quarter - but there is a very high level of uncertainty.

Outlook: No forecast for the period from Monday to Wednesday due to the very high levels of uncertainty this morning.

Extended Outlook: The outlook for the period from Thursday 2nd May to Monday 6th May ... is for a changeable period, with a mixed bag of weather, with low pressure never too far away.

Charts below are a snapshot from the major models. Note that anything beyond about 5 days is pretty speculative - so treat all extended charts with caution...
